Welcome to the Patterson Angus and Hereford Ranch Website. We run around 200 registered Angus cows and 50 to 60 registered Hereford cows.
My dad, L.M. Patterson, Jr. (Sonny), started the Herefords in 1940 when he was nine years old. He went on to win the Pantex Bull Test with a pen of his Hereford calves, worked his way through dwarfism and drouth, and we still have his cattle today. We have AI'd the Herefords since 1975 and purchased herd bulls from Jack Holden in Valier, Montana. We focus on thick, easy-calving cattle with the best carcass traits. The Angus cows were started in 1982. We have a goal to produce cowboy type carcass bulls with calving ease. We all know this is a hard bull to build. One thing that has helped us move closer to this goal was the purchase of RITO 9Q20 of RITA 5F56 GHM in 2010. He was the Lot 1 yearling bull at Wehrmann's sale in the spring of 2010. He was the thickest carcass bull I had ever seen. He has spent time as the #2 $BEEF bull in the breed behind his flush brother, 9Q13. Now that he is gone he has passed 9Q13. 9Q20 has given us an outstanding, thick herd of young cows and Q28. Q28 is the mother of YETI, our new herd bull. YETI is a 1682 son like no bull I have ever seen. Watch for his semen to be available in the spring!
Thank you for visiting. We will be changing and updating the site quite often to keep you up to date on our progress.
